Classic Tiramisu recipe is probably one of Italy’s most popular dessert recipe. It is made up of lady fingers dipped in coffee and incredible mascarpone cream. Rich, custardy and light at the same time. This recipe is absolutely perfect for any occasion.
Tiramisu requires a short list of ingredients, but their combination tastes incredible. We add a little brown sugar to the coffee syrup for extra depth of flavor. You can bake your own lady fingers or buy them. I usually buy them, but the recipe includes the homemade process for lady fingers. And the mascarpone? That’s the holy grail of the whole recipe. So make sure you don’t skimp on it, and buy a good quality one so it’s rich in flavour and texture.

2.
Whip the Egg Whites
Whisk together the egg yolks and white sugar until they reach a creamy, pale consistency. Gently incorporate the mascarpone cheese into the yolk mixture until smooth.
In the bowl with the egg whites, beat until stiff peaks form. This adds lightness to the tiramisu. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture. Use spatula for this step and aim to keep the mixture airy.

3.
Dip the Ladyfingers
Briefly soak each ladyfinger in the cooled coffee and lay them in a single layer in your dish. Spread half of the creamy mascarpone mix over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and then the remaining cream.
For the flavors to meld, refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. Before serving, sprinkle a generous amount of cocoa powder on top. Buon appetito!

Notes
Always use fresh eggs and high-quality mascarpone for the best flavor and texture.
When soaking ladyfingers in coffee, ensure it's a quick dip. You want them moistened, but not soggy. If they soak up too much liquid, they might make the dessert too wet.
Before mixing, allow the mascarpone cheese to come to room temperature. This ensures it blends smoothly and avoids any lumps.
When whipping egg whites, aim for stiff peaks but be careful not to overbeat, or they might become dry and grainy.
While it might be tempting to dive into your tiramisu right away, letting it chill ensures the layers meld and intensifies the flavors.
Tiramisu tastes even better the next day! Store leftovers in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 3-4 days. However, the sooner you consume it, the better the texture and flavors will be.
