This Air fryer Chicken Schnitzel recipe is a staple at our house! My husband absolutely loves them and it’s one of those recipes that never gets boring!

Did you know that you can prepare perfect crispy schnitzels without frying them? If you haven’t tried it yet, I’ve got an absolutely amazing recipe for you to make schnitzels in such a healthier version without depriving yourself of their great taste. And although I prepare them myself in a hot air fryer, I have a variation within the recipe for you to prepare them at home in the oven. Once you try them, you won’t want them any other way!

Why cook your schnitzel in air fryer?

  • No added oil. Real schnitzels are breaded and fried and therefore can be greasy and heavy for some. In this recipe, we skip the frying altogether, saving both a lot of oil and calories.
  • Flexibility of the recipe. You can easily modify the recipe to make it suitable for family members. Add baked potatoes, mashed potatoes or wrap it in tortillas.
  • Lots of protein. Chicken tenders are great because they contain a lot of protein, so this is a meal that will keep you full for a long time. Plus, chicken is also a great source of many other nutrients, such as niacin and vitamin B12.

How to make these Chicken Schnitzels in the oven?

You need a hot air fryer to prepare this recipe. But not everyone has one at home, so I’ll show you a variant of how to prepare a perfectly crispy schnitzel in a regular oven. First, preheat your oven to 200°C. Then follow the recipe up to the step where you put the steaks in the hot-air fryer. In this case, we will not put them in the fryer at all.

Instead, prepare a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place the schnitzels side by side on it. Make sure there’s enough room around the cutlets. The more air that circulates around them, the better. Lightly spray the schnitzels on both sides with oil spray. Then place the tray in the oven. After about 8 minutes of baking, turn the cutlets over and bake for another 10 minutes. And you’re done! Great, crispy schnitzels that few can resist!

Set the air fryer to 180°C and bake for 10 minutes first. Then turn the fillets over and bake for a further 10 minutes until nicely golden.
